MySQL performance on the FX-53 is simply amazing: the 2.4 GHz FX-53 beats the best Pentium 4 by more than 60%. In these benchmarks, the large L3-cache of the P4 EE does not pay off at all, but we are only launching one query at a time. We are working on a second MySQL benchmark to remedy the shortcomings of this one, but this doesn't change the fact that AMD's flagship really shines when it comes to MySQL datamining. Prescott is up to 7% slower than Northwood in these benchmarks, a fact that does not make us very optimistic on how Nocona will compare to the Opteron family in this test. You can now grab the FX53 in stock for under $800. |
