Hexus relays that Corsair has released Dominator GT DDR3 sticks that are optimized for the Phenom II. The kit, forming part of Corsair's enthusiast-orientated Dominator GT line, consists of a pair of 2GB modules that are said to be "precision engineered" to operate at 1,600MHz, with ultra-low latencies of 6-6-6-18. You can search for prices on Corsair Dominator sticks here. |

Tom's Hardware has an article on scaling DDR3 on the Phenom II. In reality so long as you have decently timed DDR3 1333 you are going to be fine. This is not like when we had the first DDR overclocking results with Crucial DDR160 and got it up to DDR300 speeds with the ALi chipset. That was awesome. This is ok. While DDR3-1600 operating under tight timings will undoubtedly give you the best performance, and DDR3 below 1066 should not be used for the sake of performance, the best compromise clearly is DDR3-1333 at reasonable timings. In most benchmarks, the difference between 1600 and 1333 speeds is negligible, but 1333 would still give you a larger benefit than the tiny gap between 1333 and 1600. In addition, DDR3-1333 is about to become the performance mainstream level, meaning acceptable prices for low-latency memory kits. DDR3 1333 is getting cheaper as you can see here. |

Digitimes reports that AMD will be using Samsung GDDR5 to make up for shortages of the GPU memory from Qimonda. Ironically some of that money Samsung brings in may go to pay off Spansion's patent settlement. Since most of AMD's high-end graphics card memory chips were sourced from Qimonda, the bankruptcy of Qimonda created concern to graphics card makers, added the report. |

I've posted my review of a 6GB Crucial DDR3 1333MHz kit which despite being $30 for 2GB overclocked our Core i7 920 to 4GHz! Check it out. |
