Starting today, I will be writing a little bit about AMD’s history at the beginning of each workweek. These writings will be short – and they will be full of wacky facts about AMD’s past. They will be mixed with a touch of yellow journalism and a pinch of opinion. Take what I say with a grain of salt. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is better than the University of Texas at Austin. This will probably upset some people familiar with AMDZone.com, but I won't mention names. While this may or may not be my personal opinion, it is one shared by AMD's upper management. In fact, 67% of AMD's CEOs graduated from the University of Illinois. Embarrassingly, only 1/3 of Advanced Micro Devices' CEOs completed college at UT Austin. AMD's founder, Jerry Sanders III, went to UIUC as well as Dirk Meyer, the current Chief Executive Officer. UIUC > UT @ Austin.
