Barron's is blogging. Yeah, it kind of makes you sick at your stomach to hear those words in one sentence. Barron's, blogging. Lord. Anyway, they blog about AMD at CES. Well, there just ain’t a lot of people here in the Las Vegas Hilton theater at the Consumer Electronics Show, where the CEO and President of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Dirk Meyer, is about to take the stage. You’d think there’d be people, given Intel (INTC) Chairman Craig Barrett is to take the stage at the Venetian hotel tomorrow. But no, there are vast rows of empty seats here. Some big, fearsome-looking, gaming style desktop machines are sitting on stage. A young man in a bow tie has come on stage to introduce Meyer. Running a video before Meyer comes on stage … words such as “realistic,” “fusion,” “games” are flashing across various graphics … oh, they’re actually slogans, “Mobile … More like … Freedom” Whatever… Okay, it’s all about “AMD: The Future is Fusion.” Here comes Meyer. Here’s wearing a dark polo shirt and dark khaki slacks.
