Advanced Micro Devices Inc.'s new chief executive, Dirk Meyer, pulled down a pay package valued at $5.3 million in his first year at the helm of the struggling chip maker, a big piece of which came in the form of stock and options tied to his promotion last summer, the company said in a regulatory filing at week's end. Meyer's compensation for 2008, a year in which the Sunnyvale-based company launched a major restructuring to improve its sagging finances, included a salary of $856,732 and stock and options valued at $4,386,448 when they were granted. Ruiz also pulled down some cash, and will get more as the spinoff finishes. |
