AMD/ATI are hoping that their next big upcoming PCI-E chipset will make a showing by Q209 - less than a year away. PCI Express 3.0, as it is called, offers double the bandwidth of the current PCI-E spec and AMD is polishing it right now. Expect to see this feature in AMD's 800 series of chipsets, in the not too faraway future.
