Shares of Advanced Micro Devices rose 11.52% today to $4.26 - while low, this is much higher than November's price of $1.62/share. Also leading the market with AMD was Intel Corporation, which was up over 5%. AMD opened the day at $3.90/share. Despite Monday's gains, J.P.Morgan analyst Christopher Danely cautioned that the semiconductor industry will likely face a tough road ahead.
In a note to clients, Danely wrote: "We see only 10% potential upside from current levels and 30% downside due to another leg down in estimates during the second half of 2009. He cited "due to overly optimistic consensus estimates and poor end demand."
