Stallman: Buy AMD, Not Intel, To Support Free BIOS |

ZDNet has a blog, a term I find idiotic, on Stallman and his Free BIOS campaign. Stallman says Intel has done nothing to help, and that AMD is cooperative. He recommends supporting Free BIOS by buying AMD CPUs. Tyan, Newisys, Iwill, VIA, and IBM products are listed as having Linux BIOS support. A number of new updates have come this month so check it out. In his speech Stallman was scathing toward Intel, "which has started a sham ?open source? BIOS project. The software consists of all the unimportant parts of of a BIOS, without the hard parts. It won?t run, and doesn?t bring us any closer to a BIOS that does run. It is just a distraction. By contrast, AMD cooperates pretty well." |

The Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe which in the post below appears to maybe have TCQ issues, has two new bios files posted up on the German FTP. Both are dated 1/25 and they are versions 1003sd and 1004sd01. Perhaps a TCQ fix could be in these? |

raceware sent in word of two new Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe beta bios files. Version 1003.003 and version 1003.004 are both available, and both dated 12/24, but no differences are noted. |
