EE Times reports that PC processor sales should start to grow again. Q1 numbers show AMD went from 17% share in Q4 to 20.9% share in Q1. Yeah, that would be over 20% grown quarter on quarter which is quite a bump. Inventory adjustments may make those stats uncertain, but I'm sure AMD will take it. AMD had 20.9 percent of PC processor sales in the quarter, up from 17 percent in the fourth quarter of 2008, according to Mercury. Intel's share declined from 82.1 percent in the fourth quarter to 78.2 percent in the first three months of 2009. Surprisingly mobile CPUs dropped the most. People may have realized that laptops are largely crappy, will break easily, and are slow and hard to upgrade. Who would have known that? |
