Think Computers asks why they bought a 64 bit processor.

Why aren't companies moving to 64bit, the 64bit processor has been out for quite a while now and has pretty much become the standard processor, prices are low enough that pretty much anyone can afford one. Yet, I don't see anything that actually takes advantage of a 64bit CPU, sure we got Far Cry 64bit edition, woo-hoo, I can't even get it to work on Xp64.... Go figure, so I can't tell you what looks different about it. I don't see any companies announcing any new software for 64bit computing.

Applications that take advantage of 64 bit are moving to it. I post to usually at least one press release a week with a new 64 bit application. Of course Longhorn is when 64 bit will begin to hit stride on the desktop. Today we are enjoying server and workstation apps that take advantage.
