Chip Chick thinks AMD is trying to extort money from Intel. You see, Intel has a history of innovation, and lowering prices. I guess I have to forgive Chipchick, a site opened in late 2004, which is run by Mac users. Sure, who could expect them to see how high Intel priced CPUs when no one had a chip out there to compete, and how much the market changed with AMD. They are not in the job of accurate reporting. It is a blog. Give me a break. With Intel’s history of innovation and low costs, is going after them really in the consumer’s best interest? AMD is considered Intel’s main competitor in the microprocessor arena, and this is not the first time the companies have gone head to head. In 2005, AMD sued Intel for violating antitrust laws. Most recently AMD was in the news for insider trading and low earnings, causing their stock to drop a dramatic 6% in October, 2009. And then emerges Cuomo’s movement to file suit against Intel. Seemingly AMD’s last ditch effort to extort funds from Intel, this could explain why the government is pursuing Intel now. People are left wondering why the government is going after Intel, when the cost of microprocessors and the computers that house them are lower than ever. |

Fudo also reports that AMD's 40nm Fusion, code named Ontario, will be based on the Bobcat low power dual core. Yes, this can get confusing I know. We just recently found out some rather good news, Ontario in its 40nm won’t be based on Phenom / Athlon K10.5 45nm shrunk core. Originally we were thinking that AMD will simply take its dual-core in 45nm and will shrink it to 40nm bulk process, but we found out that the dual-core in that product is going to be Bobcat, a low-power dual core. |
