The Register has gotten their hands on AMD's new Neo based mobile platform. They review the HP Pavillion dv2 notebook and compare it to other ultra-mobile laptops. While it is bigger than it's direct competitors, such as the Asus EEPC, Acer One and Dell Mini, it offers a pretty significant boost in performance. However, this comes at a cost - as we mentioned, it is larger; but, it is also hotter running and has less battery life. That said, judging by the pictures, it is still a pretty thin laptop. Not bad for AMD's first real attempt at cracking this market - no doubt though that they can do better. This laptop is available at Buy.com for $750 with free shipping.
