Last week when AMD officially launched its new ultrathin mobile platform codename Congo and the mainstream notebook platform codename Tigris, the chipmaker also provided in its marketing material benchmark charts showing what it believes are key performance advantages over Intel's offerings.

Looking at the slides it is pretty clear superior integrated graphics is pushing AMD over the top.

Acer One Ferrari Netbook makes an Appearance PDF Print E-mail

PCPro has information about Acer's upcoming Ferrari netbook, the Acer Ferrari One. Acer and AMD have been sponsors of Ferrari's F1 team and Acer often releases Ferrari edition laptops with AMD's best processors and platforms inside them. The Ferrari One will launch in late October; it will ship with a 1.2 GHz Athlon X2 and will be packaged with a sub-12" screen. The Ferrari One will obviously be more expensive than other models and it's battery life will have to face an uphill battle against the likes of Intel Atom based netbooks. We'll have to wait and see just how good AMD's new Vision platform is.

Where Acer's new netbook could struggle, however, is longevity away from the mains. Although it ships with a seemingly impressive 5,600mAh, six-cell unit as standard, Acer's press material stated a rather conservative battery life of around five hours, which is around half that we've achieved from the best Atom-based netbooks.

Fudzilla also says that AMD is going to launch two new mobile platforms.

AMD reveals that Caspian has up to two cores, supports DDR2 800 memory, has 128-bit floating point and is developed in 45nm. The 45nm nanometre bit means that this CPU will end up cooler than the previous 65nm one. It will support mobile S1g3 socket.

CNet has reviewed the 11" Gateway LT3103u netbook. It is AMD powered, and a top performer. You can pick it up here at Best Buy for $379.99.

In the battle for Netbook market share supremacy, Intel's Atom CPU stands nearly unchallenged, despite a handful of offerings with AMD and Via CPUs. So it's surprising we found so much to like about the 11.6-inch Gateway LT3103u, which uses an AMD Athlon 64 L110 processor to provide a smoother overall experience than most Atom-powered Netbooks, while keeping the price in the typical Netbook ballpark.

Revio has reviewed the HP Pavillion DV2.

At a time when all eyes are turned to the Atom found in netbook and Culver plebiscite for the Intel Ultra Mobile AMD for its part launched earlier this year a new platform called the Yukon who characterized by a Neo processor and graphics chips or Radeon X1250 Mobility Radeon HD 3410. C'est d'ailleurs cette deuxième version que nous testons aujourd'hui par le biais de l'ultra portable HP DV2 1023ef. It is this second version we are testing today through ultra-portable HP DV2 1023ef. Ce petit PC a beaucoup fait parler de lui car il a été le premier à être équipé d'un Neo MV-40 et du Radeon HD 3410. This little PC has done much about him because he was the first to be equipped with a MV-40 Neo and Radeon HD 3410. Mais si sur le papier une telle configuration paraît alléchante et promet des performances supérieures à celles des netbooks ou d'une partie des ultra portables que donne t-elle vraiment dans la pratique ? But while on paper this configuration seems tempting and promises superior performance to those of netbooks or part of the ultra portable that she gives really mean in practice? Les performances sont-elles vraiment au rendez-vous ? Performances are they really go? Et quid de l'autonomie et du dégagement calorifique ? And what about self and release heat?
