Fudo reports that MSI is working on an AMD Neo based X-Slim model. It seems MSI is working on the X410 and X610, both Yukon based. Both should be available with AMD IGPs, as well as discrete HD 4330 graphics with 512MB of memory. However, you won't find AMD chips in smaller models, probably due to unfavorable thermals. At this point we're not sure about dual-core Congo CPUs either. |

Business Week says that HP's dv2 is a better notebook. It is of course powered by AMD's Neo. Because the AMD chip is a single processor, it provides less punch than Intel's two-core variety. But a computer's overall performance depends on both the main processor and the graphics processor. Intel integrates these functions in the microprocessor, while AMD compensates by adding extra graphics technology from its subsidiary, ATI. In the dv2, this combination delivers Blu-ray high-definition movies, something the laptop could not do if it relied on the processor alone. You can pick one up here starting at $699. |
