Gentoo Linux 2004 AMD64 version is available for purchase. At just $10 you can't complain too much. Gentoo Linux 2004 comes in several flavors. Our universal single-disc version includes everything you need to install an optimized version of Gentoo 2004.0 on an AMD64 or Opteron system. A "stage3 tarball" is included on our universal disc 1. Also included are about 250MB of sources so that you can get your Gentoo system up and running from a stage3 without a network connection. This includes kernel sources, XFree86 sources, and sources for important system utilities. This single disk is suitable for those Gentoo users who like to build from scratch or start from a "stage3."
We also offer dual-disc set. The first disc in the set is the universal disc described above. The second disc contains over 500MB of pre-built packages optimized for your particular CPU type, including XFree86, GNOME, KDE, evolution, and lots more. This 2-CD set is perfect for those who want to get a complete system set up quickly. We recommend the 2-CD set for new Gentoo users.
Pre-built packages included on the optimized second disc:
Desktop Environments: KDE, GNOME, fluxbox, openbox, enlightenment
Productivity Software: evolution, tetex, others
Web Browsing: Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox 0.8
Software Development: gcc 3.3.3, vim, emacs, xemacs, and a huge collection of development libraries and toolkits
Hardware Support: Highlights include free and proprietary NVIDIA graphics card drivers, SoundBlaster Live!/Audigy/Audigy 2 support, NVIDIA NForce 3 network and audio support |
