We sell a lot of Xbox 360 3 red light fix supplies at Tek Republik. In fact we are probably one of the top sellers on Ebay for them. This has been a recent deal we just started doing this year in addition to our console repair. Earlier in the year Ebay decided to make the worst move ever in a lame attempt to get more buyers buying. They took away the ability for sellers to give buyers bad feedback. It is simply unbelievable that they made this move, and the outcome is clear. Bad buyers are ruining Ebay, and thanks to this we will be opening our own stand alone web store, and focusing on the 1994 technology Craiglist even more. I hope to god that 3rd quarter earnings for Ebay are so bad that the top of that company gets cut off completely, but either way they have lost my business. I can no longer waste my time with a company that so hates its users. |

Zoners and Stoners:
We could always use more help on our Folding @ home team. If you would like more info about what it is exactly and how you can get involved, check out our Distributed Computing sub-forum. Recently, we've passed quite a few teams, including This Week in Tech, among others. A while back, I announced that we were going to have a contest for two video cards - although the video cards are a little bit older, I am sure that the winners will find a use for them. The winner of the first video card is Karamiekos. The second winner, a new folder, is Kobyhud. Both have assisted our team immensely and Karamiekos goes out of his way to help and welcome other folders. Additionally, I’d like to thank both Brit_Spazman and Brutis for their help to our group. Brit had the most points in July and Brutis had the most points in August. Both of them will be receiving smaller items such as shirts, or hats, or something. Please PM me your info if I do not have it and I will see that you get your prizes – even you, Brit.. eventually. |

It is not often you will see me break local news not on the subject of AMD or another tech company, but this one hit close to home. This morning a gunman fired off a round inside a Barton Creek Mall movie theatre. For those with some idea of where AMD is in Austin you would be talking about maybe 10 minutes North up Mopac from their new headquarters. The gunman shot into the air after he stumbled up in front of the screen. At a morning show with school back in there probably were not a lot of people in that theatre. Police were dispatched, but could not find the gunman. Local news sites picked up on this about two hours ago.
I have heard that a man on North Lamar near Central Market that was walking erratically down the side walk, and had fired off his weapon between 9:30PM and 10PM. It appears this gunman was apprehended in EZ's restaurant across the street from Central Market. I have frequented EZ's many times as it is not far from Tek Republik as you can see from this map, or from my home. In fact I had been at Central Market across the street at 9:15PM buying groceries roughly 30 minutes before the incident. It is somewhat alaming that someone was roaming armed around the city as this type of thing is certainly not common in Austin.
From the description I heard about this man appears to match the gunman from earlier in the day. Lets hope this is that man, and he is now off the streets. |

I'm happy to announce that our Folding@Home team is folding at a rate that puts it at 47th in the world. We are currently ranked 128th with several teams in our site in the next 4 weeks that will put us in 113th place with sites on the top 100 in 2-3 months. We have been boosted greatly by the new GPU2 client that allows you to fold on multiple GPUs in one system and also harness the folding power of Radeon and GeForce stream processors. The new multicore CPU clients are also putting in impressive numbers. If you have not already please join up! We need more help, and our goal is to become a top 25 team. We are well on the way there, but at this rate it will take us over a year to get in the top 50. We need more CPU and GPU power in this quest to help fight cancer and other diseases. We had a top 5 UD cancer team, and I'm confidant we can do it again. If you have any questions please join us in the folding forum and everyone will be glad to help you out. |
