AMD Offering Upgrade Discounts on Opterons |

Advanced Micro Devices is offering discounts to those customers who opt to upgrade their Opterons from AMD's last generation to their current Shanghai generation. The discounts, while not much, are still seen as a way to boost customer demand. AMD is willing to give customers and channel partners a $50 discount on the 2000 series of Opterons and a $100 discount for purchasers of the 8000 series. According to Tawain News, this is roughly one-third off on certain products. This is the first I've heard of this deal, but we will update you later if we find anything else concerning this.
