Here is our test system

 

CPU AMD Phenom X4 9950BE
Memory Corsair XMS Dominator 4GB
Hard Drive Western Digital 750GB
Heatsink Zalmaan 9700
Display Samsung 20" LCD

Our test system was Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with Catalyst 8.9 drivers.

We tested the transfer rates of our Western Digital 750GB to tested AMD's SB750 southbridge.

ASRock AOD790GX/128M 205.1MB/s 72.7MB/s 3%
Foxconn 790GX 205.3MB/s 72.8MB/s 3.1%

 

 

Next we tested external USB 2.0 transfer rates with a WD Raptor hard drive.

 

  Burst Speed Average Read Speed
ASRock AOD790GX/128M 33.5 MB/s  30.8 MB/s
Foxconn 790GX 33.5 MB/s 30.8MB/s

Both results are quite similar and see no real variance from one either 790GX based motherboards.

 

And finally we tested the Gigabit Ethernet using SiSoft Sandra.

ASRock AOD790GX/128M 68.1 MB/s
Foxconn 790GX 69.7 MB/s

Similar situation here though the Foxconn has a slight edge.
