A source has told us that AMD systems are on the rise for back to school sales. Apparently Emachines is fielding two Athlon 64 models and one Sempron model. This would be up one A64 box from what I've last seen. Then also HP will be putting two Athlon 64 models on the shelves up from zero at Best Buy. This is a start, but still pales to the 6 Sam's has had. Come on Best Buy, grow some already.
Could we be seeing some progress thanks to the antitrust suit now, or are these additions something that has been in the works already? That is the question. |

bit tech has reviewed the Shuttle SN25P. We tested out this Socket 939 nF4 SFF here. You can search for prices on it here. On a side note I'm currently using it as my main system. Shuttle is probably the leading manufacturer of Small Form Factor (SFF) PCs. Today, we are having a look at one of its latest additions to the P-series XPCs: the SN25P. It amalgamates NVIDIA's very popular NForce 4 MCP into Shuttle's equally popular XPC product line. It provides native support for the PCI-Express interface, along with support for all Socket 939 AMD Athlon 64 processors, including the Athlon 64 FX and Athlon 64 X2; the latter after a BIOS update. |

HardwareZone has reviewed the Shuttle XPC SN25P. You can check out our review here, and you can pick one up for as low as $382 here. Our benchmarks show that the SN25P performs very well for a SFF and even exceeds our reference nForce4 Ultra board for some of the graphics intensive benchmarks. With PCI Express support, this means that it is possible to use the latest generation high-end graphics card with the SN25P, with the 350W of power supplied by Shuttle's SilentX power unit. Overclocking is another factor to consider and for the SN25P, it is certainly positive, with a suitably wide range of settings to choose from, including the essential CMOS reset button for those unfortunate 'accidents'. |

I've done a comparison of the latest DVD burners from both AOpen and Gigabyte as we go through a number of tests to see who comes out on top. Currently the Gigabyte is not yet to retail but the AOpen can be picked up for here for forty five dollars. |
