William ?Modem King? Blair has posted his review of the Diamond SupraMax LE 56K PCI Fax Modem. If you can?t get broadband then you may want to check this out. You can purchase this modem for as low as $10.
In this day and age a serious internet connection is required for any type of modern computer usage. At one point I was known to have reasoned that 28,800 baud was all that a man would ever need in his internet connection. Sadly this is not the case. In this ultra digital age Diamond has bestowed upon us the SupraMax LE 56K Fax Modem. Finally here is a modem that will allow me to receive faxes and now connect to the internet at blazing speeds. Now keep in mind that 56,000 baud is not possible due to constraints on conventional phone lines. However the speeds achieved are close enough. ![]() ![]() First let's take a look at the ultra sleek packaging for this peripheral. Diamond has prepared a visual pleasing design featuring a vibrant fiery background for which the visual representation of the modem is placed upon, positioned in a way to give it a speedy appearance. Displayed on the front of the box are the features of the modem which are listed below as well as informing consumers that this V.92 ready. Shoppers are sure to notice this eye catching package created by Diamond. Listed on the back are a description of the modem, a detailed explanation of what exactly is V.92 along with specifications, features, what you get, system requirements, and service and support information. Contained in the box is a well designed corrugated cardboard container built to hold the modem along with the included items.

Many of these items come in handy when connecting your computer to the internet. The modem is essential for this and must go in an open PCI slot. The Installation Guide features detailed info for setting up your new modem along with handy color pictures detailing what to do. The RJ-11 cord is essential for physically connecting your modem to a standard telephone line and the Install CD provides ever important drivers so you can run your modem on a Windows system. Also included is a registration card and more info about V.92. Installation Installation of this card is a breeze. Simply open up your computer and insert it into an open PCI slot (with the power turned off of course). Next boot up into your Windows operating system, insert the Supra Install CD and follow the simple instructions.

![]() BLAZING! As you can see this modem performs much faster than a 33.6Kbps modem would. And lastly here's a picture of me downloading the Quake 2 demo (which was quite fun). ![]()
