Abit KG 7 MoBo Upgrade

I currently have a KG7 MoBo w/ a Athlon XP+ 1600 CPU. Would like to upgrade. Abit website says max CPU is either Athlon XP Palomino @ 2100+ or Athlon XP Thoroughbred @ 2000+. What's the difference and which is better?

thoroughbred will run a lot cooler
