K8 PRO : boot problem

K8 PRO : boot problem

Postby kromag » Thu Feb 03, 2005 6:39 pm

Hi,

I have K8 PRO motherboard with AMD 64 2800+ CPU.
Every time I exit the BIOS after saving changes or even exit without making any changes the OS(WINDOWS xp) failes to boot (at least it looks like that:the monitor just goes off and staying like that no matter what I do).To boot the system I have to turn off the computer and disconnect the power supply-if I do not dosconnect it the system does not boot. The POST code digits on the MoBo indicate ,I think, "Soft reset".
Please help!

did it run allright with changing the boot sequence ?

there may be something in your system that will not allow you to run "Optimized defaults"

does your system run alright with out the optimised defaults ?

what memory are you running ?

The system runs o.k. when it boots. The problem happens only right upon exiting the BIOS no matter what action I did with a BIOS ,even if it's just viewing.

I use GEIL PC3200 400 DDR memory.

I'm using ATX 400 Watt power supply.

And again, the problem is that each time I enter and than exit BIOS even without making any change - the Windows XP fails to boot -the screen goes off and sysytem won't boot unless I disconnect 220 V power supply cord and re-connet it again and then start the computer.

http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/

you can use this chart to determine your power needs ,and then add 20% more at least so that your power supply isn't under a full load all the time

do you have any problem if you just reboot your computer ??

here is something else ,,what bios are you using ??

Updated µGuru Utility to ukv8_022.bin.

Added "Delay Transactions" item.

Added "PCI Latency Timer function" item.

Removed an error message that appears if the year is modified and a SAVE&EXIT is executed.

Fixed an issue where pressing TAB key to skip the OSB logo caused the Memory Information & Memory Clock to be missing.

Changed "USB 2.0 Controller" defaulted to "Enabled", and synchronized it with the "OnChip USB Controller" setting.

Synchronized "DDR Voltage" & "SB Voltage" in the PC Health item if modified.

Changed "Resume by OnChip USB" default to "Enabled".

Changed "ACPI Suspend Type" default to "S3".

Added DMI information.

BIOS compile date: 11/12/2004
