LAN card for Abit AX8 goes down every 30 minutes...

I just purchased a new ABIT AX8 mother board. The problem I'm having is that the IC Plus IP1000 Family Gigabit Ethernet Adapter goes down every 30 minutes or so. I have the most recent driver installed. Streaming internet TV/Radio seems to expedite this failure. Once it goes down, the driver will disappear from my Network Connections or say "Connection Failed" when I try to enable it. Restarting will bring it right back up. Any suggestions before I return the board?

I'm using XP. I wanted to ad that in the configure panel of the IC Plus IP1000 Family Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Properties it says in the Device status field "Error (10) try trouble shooting". Trouble shooting leads me to "find my help elsewhere".

in hardware properties, make sure that you dont have "Let windows turn this device off to save power" or whatever enabled. Also check other power settings in the bios.

yea check in your device manager and see if you are having a resource conflict

I changed the setting "Let windows turn this device off to save power" to disabled and it seems to have worked. I did notice that the board has a code of 17 on it. I can't find out what that code is fom anywhere. I was wondering if that was a possible reason for my troubles.

I take it back... It keeps on going down... If I run GAIM or winamp radio it goes down...

check your resources to see if you have any conflict with your lan in your device manager

how are you hooking up to the internet ?

No conflicts reported...

I went out and purchased an ethernet pci card. I'll pay 14 dollars to not be down the 4 days it would take to send it back to Tiger Direct. Everthing looks like it's running smoothly. I haven't gone down yet....
