Issue with Asus K8N4-e Deluxe

I have just turned my machine on and there is no output from the system speaker or on the screens.

It did beep 1 long 2 short (which i believe means there is a video card failure) but does not make a sound now.

All other devices are powering up (HDD's CD etc)

I tried putting in a known working PCI vga card (ATI 9200) and this does not output either. Also still not beeps.

I am getting my ATi X700 tested later but the fact there is no beep would suggest that it is the CPU or Mobo to me.

Any ideas of things i could try so i can narrow it down and get the faulty part replaced with out buying stuff i didn't need to?

I am getting the same problem with a known good pci videocard...

how did you solve this problem??

was it your pci-e video card that was faulty??

i know this is a long shot as the original post was in '05 but i cant seem to figure out what is wrong with this board... it SHOULD work with a pci card instead of a pci-e card if need be...right?

Have you tried to reset the CMOS.
