Ah well, today I tried some converting, and guess what? it is not using GPU. Or it is using, but sensors are not registering any gpu activity :D
guess we need to wait for some new patches or new versions of that program. I remember amd announced that they are working with cyberlink on opencl project :)

I don't know but it's worth a try. They're nice and stable so theres no problem upgrading to them.
The 8.66RC driver was only a hotfix so the cards would work, with 9.10 you should get all the functionality back.

well i just installed the 9.10 drivers for my 4870 and espresso still only uses four cores of my cpu. it doesn't even list the 4870 on their site as being supported so maybe that is it. oh well, still faster then single threaded at least.

Their webpage lists both 4850 and 4870 X2. There's no reason that 4870 is not supported. If anything you just down clock your 4870 to assume you had a 4850, and call their customer service for support.

hm i did not have any problems with my 4890, except that it was using 3 cores and 16% of the gpu, still cutting the time in half, than with cpu alone.
So I do not see why 4870 is not supported :(

I Just tried a larger file and it fluctuates between 3-6 percent gpu usage with all 4 cores of the cpu running between 90-97 percent. I tried sitting the affinity between 1 and 3 cores but the didn't seem to help at all either. I guess 6% is better then nothing.

about half way through a 1.3 gig file the gpu just started sitting idle for about 20 seconds then spike to between 25-60 percent and now since its hit 70% complete, the gpu is sitting at 0.

More importantly what's the time completion difference between cpu and cpu/gpu?
If it's minimal then I would start asking questions to Cyberlink but if it's good gain then......
